Subaru EyeSight is the driver assistance system fitted to most modern Subarus. It watches the road ahead and steps in to warn you or brake when it matters, which is a big part of why Subarus score so well in safety tests.
How it works
EyeSight uses a pair of stereo cameras mounted either side of the rear view mirror. Working like a set of eyes, the two cameras judge distance and depth, tracking vehicles, lane markings and obstacles ahead of you in real time.
What EyeSight does
- Pre collision braking that can stop the car if you do not react
- Adaptive cruise control that keeps a safe following distance
- Lane departure warning when you drift without indicating
- Lane keep assist that gently steers you back between the lines
Why repairs mean recalibration
Because both cameras sit against the windscreen, anything that moves them affects the whole system. A windscreen replacement, a collision or even a hard knock can leave the cameras out of alignment. Out by a fraction of a degree at the glass, metres out down the road.
After any repair or glass work on an EyeSight equipped Subaru, professional recalibration puts the cameras back to factory specification. Solis calibrates EyeSight and other ADAS systems in house and gives you documentation for your records. Driving a Subaru and not sure your system was calibrated after previous work? Bring it in and we will check.
